What started as a little farmer’s market at Hopedale Mall in 1979, has now become Town of Oakville’s longest running outdoor market and a must visit destination for locals and tourists across the Golden Horseshoe. For 44 years, the Civitan Club of Oakville has operated this market in with proceeds used in support of community charities.
“Dorval Crossing, a prestige shopping destination, literally at Oakville’s ‘crossroads’, is the best possible location for our famers market,” observed Civitan Club past President Doug Guthrie. Dorval Crossing East Property Manager BentallGreenOak has generously donated access to their parking lot for our market. Without their support, our market would not be possible.
Our market operates from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Saturday from May until November
Civitan Doug Guthrie retired in 2022 after leading our market for over 40 years. He has earned the title ‘Honourary Mayor of the Oakville Farmers Market’. Humbly filling his big shoes are Market co-Managers Kevin Kisil, Al McMullan and George Horhota who cite the tremendous support of BentallGreenOak, Dorval Crossing East’s property manager who donates use of their parking lot so we can raise funds for local Halton Region charities and not-for-profit support organizations. BentallGreenOak is a community-oriented partner of our market without whose support we would not be able to serve market vendors and shoppers.
