What started as a little farmer’s market at Hopedale Mall in 1979, has now become Town of Oakville’s longest running outdoor market and a must visit destination for locals and tourists across the Golden Horseshoe. For 36 years, the Civitan Club of Oakville has operated this market in with proceeds used in support of community charities.
“Dorval Crossing, a prestige shopping destination, literally at Oakville’s ‘crossroads’, is the best possible location for our famers market,” observed Civitan Club past President Doug Guthrie. “The enthusiastic welcome offered by the shopping centre’s property manager Bentall Kennedy last year affirmed that we are collaborating with the right partner. Bentall Kennedy is 110% behind our Club, our community and the charities whom we – through the market – support.”
Our market operates from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Saturday from May until November
Civitan Doug Guthrie, who has led the market for 15 years and been responsible for its success, cites the support of Bentall Kennedy’s Regional Marketing Director Domenic Imbesi for the Civitan market: “Domenic takes his organization beyond the expected. This year, he has approved the funding of special entertainment events catering to children at each Saturday’s market — from face-painting to bouncy castles and stilt walkers. Each Saturday market will have an entertainer to captivate kids.” This makes the Dorval Crossing Civitan Farmers Market a must visit destination for the family each Saturday.
